Quick answer
Your billing address must match the address your bank has on file for the card, character for character. If they don't match, the bank's anti-fraud system will block the charge — even if everything else is correct. The fix is usually a one-line edit, not a card or account problem.
How to fix it
- Pull up a recent statement from your card (paper or online).
- Copy the address exactly as it appears there — same spelling, same apartment notation, same postal code format (
H2X 1Y4, with the space). - Re-enter it in the billing field at checkout. The shipping address can be different — that's normal for gifts.
- Submit the order again.
Common mistakes
- Using the shipping address in the billing field by accident
- Missing the apartment or unit number that your bank requires
- Wrong postal code format (
H2X1Y4instead ofH2X 1Y4) - An old address still on file with the bank — call your bank to update it
- Special characters from autofill (accents, hyphens) that don't match the bank record
What to have ready
- Order number (if started)
- Last 4 digits of the card
- Screenshot of the error
- A recent card statement to confirm the address on file
