My billing address doesn't match — what now?

Quick answer

Your billing address must match the address your bank has on file for the card, character for character. If they don't match, the bank's anti-fraud system will block the charge — even if everything else is correct. The fix is usually a one-line edit, not a card or account problem.

How to fix it

  1. Pull up a recent statement from your card (paper or online).
  2. Copy the address exactly as it appears there — same spelling, same apartment notation, same postal code format (H2X 1Y4, with the space).
  3. Re-enter it in the billing field at checkout. The shipping address can be different — that's normal for gifts.
  4. Submit the order again.

Common mistakes

  • Using the shipping address in the billing field by accident
  • Missing the apartment or unit number that your bank requires
  • Wrong postal code format (H2X1Y4 instead of H2X 1Y4)
  • An old address still on file with the bank — call your bank to update it
  • Special characters from autofill (accents, hyphens) that don't match the bank record

What to have ready

  • Order number (if started)
  • Last 4 digits of the card
  • Screenshot of the error
  • A recent card statement to confirm the address on file
